Microsoft’s latest purchase

I sent about the following text to a couple of Austrian media today, hoping to stir something up regarding the Austrian Standards Institute‘s (ON‘s) yes to OOXML and their future actions, esp. who they are going to send to the final decision round in Geneva in February 2008, which they have to announce to ISO by Dec. 11th. Earlier today, I had already contacted the ON with a bit of a lenghty e-mail pointing out the well-known main concerns about OOXML (no reply so far). If you don’t know exactly what I’m writing about, get yourself informed at nooxml.org, and if you care a bit for the Free Software world, sign their petition, spread the word, do something! You’ll find some people say that Sweden’s original (and probably sponsored) Yes to OOXML was turned into an abstention by, among other factors, the (Swedish) blogosphere! That is, go Austrians, I guess!
